CIHEAM Bari, in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity, is carrying out the project 'Women Economic Empowerment and MArket Development (WEMADE)', funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation/General Directorate for Cooperation and Development.
The project in collaboration with the ministerial initiative FORSA targets women in the governorate in Sohag, Upper Egypt by diversifying their livelihood opportunities (handicrafts, livestock breeding) and facilitates their access to the market through a combination of activities aimed at providing those resources and skills necessary to improve the marketing of their products, and thus their income.
We have been pleased to welcome, to CIHEAM Bari Campus, H.E. Ms Nevine al Kabbage, the Egyptian Minister of Social Solidarity and Dr. Hossam Amer, Financial Advisor at the Ministry of Social Solidarity.
H.E. the Minister acknowledges CIHEAM Bari's experiences and the network of local organizations and cooperatives active on income generation activities, social inclusion, violence against women, as helpful opportunities. They can be a tool to guide the discussion with the EU Delegation in Egypt and other donors.
