From 1-3 February, CIHEAM Bari will host the first meeting of CIHEAM's Corporate Working Group (CWG) on Forestry.
Since 1999, CIHEAM has taken part three times in the evaluation of FAO's Mediterranean Forestry Committee and since 2012 the organisation has been actively supporting the strengthening of research and cooperation networks on Mediterranean forests and social rural development. Secretary General, Placido Plaza, also recently presented CIHEAM's new strategy for the sustainable management of Mediterranean forests.
The CWG meeting aims to define the next forest strategy steps for the CIHEAM institutes, also in light of the MoU recently signed with EFI (European Forest Institute).
Besides the focal points of the 4 institutes, Giovanbattista Dedato, FAO Senior Forestry Expert of the Silva Mediterranea Secretariat, will also attend the meeting, organised by CIHEAM's General Secretariat, to discuss further areas of collaboration between the two institutions.
