The 13th Arab Plant Protection Congress was held in Hammamet, Tunisia on October 16-21, 2022 and was organized by the Arab Society of Plant Protection (ASPP) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries of Tunisia, represented by the National Institute of Agronomic Research of Tunisia (INRAT).

The Congress was attended by about 150 researchers from all Arab countries and was sponsored by 39 partners. CIHEAM Bari - which is a member of the Euphresco Governing Board and is part of Network Management Group (NMG), as well as being part of the MPU Board and the editorial Bord of the MPU Phytopathologia Mediterranea magazine - participated in two sessions:

• "Research and coordination" for the presentation of the joint initiative with Euphresco on "Plant Health Research Priorities in the Mediterranean region”.
• "Pest Surveillance", organized by the Mediterranean Phytopathological Union (MPU), for the presentation of "Precision surveillance systems for early detection of regulated diseases of fruit tree crops in the Mediterranean region".

About 30 researchers out of 150 participants in the Congress were former IPM students of CIHEAM Bari from the following countries: Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Sultanate of Oman and Tunisia.
