CIHEAM and CIHEAM Bari will participate in the 2nd International Agrobiodiversity Congress, convened by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, CGIAR, the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT. (Register here to attend the event).
The four-day virtual and interactive congress will take place on 15-18 November 2021.
World-renowned scientists, policymakers, development organisations, business leaders and representatives of rural farming communities from around the world will discuss the role of agrobiodiversity in the context of food consumption and production and the urgent need to conserve it.
During the last year a team of experts from CIHEAM and CIHEAM Bari has provided support to preparation, scientific organization and communication of the Congress, and CIHEAM Bari researchers will also participate with several contributions mainly focused on Eat (Consumption), one of the three Congress commitments to agrobiodiversity along with Grow (Production) and Save (Conservation).

The Agrobiodiversity Innovation Challenge will showcase leading innovations that can help farmers and food companies increase production effectiveness, competitiveness, and resilience, while conserving agrobiodiversity.
The Challenge aims to inspire and advance research as well as bring to market science-based solutions to improve global food systems. It creates an opportunity for long-term research and development collaboration with CGIAR and its partners.
The shortlisted contestants will pitch to the expert panel, VCs, CVCs, impact philanthropists, industry experts and in front of global audience.
The winners will be awarded cash prizes, mentoring, partnerships, technology guidance or training and tuition for a master’s program.
