Enhancing gender mainstreaming for sustainable rural development and food security

Project Summary

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:

  • Identification of women’s individual and collective needs in selected rural areas through the implementation of small-scale initiatives
  • Implementation of context-based initiatives based on dual-track operational approach which, besides women’s needs, pays equal attention to build capacities on mainstreaming gender within relevant national and local institutional stakeholders in partner countries

MAIN ACTIVITIES:

  • Setting up local Participatory Action Research (PAR) groups in charge of data collection, analysis and dissemination
  • Steering the programme’s activities for the enhancement of women’s roles within the selected agricultural value chains, in line with an explicit gender-sensitive value chain approach and with qualitative and quantitative gathering of sex-disaggregated data
  • Promoting exchange, networking and coordinated action for more gender-sensitive agricultural and rural development policies in the Mediterranean
